Avocados

It may be the ‘it’ food for the 21st century, but the avocado is a great aid for lean muscle growth, with about 15 grans of good fats, which is great for boosting the heart and fighting inflammation

Protein

Of course, you’ll not be surprised to hear that protein is essential for any recovery process and is great to consume post-workout. Protein helps the repair of workout induced damage to muscle fibres. Lean meats are ideal and for any vegans or vegetarians out there, nuts are also a great source.

Salmon

As well as being a great source of protein, salmon is packed with omega 3, which plays a large role in reducing inflammation.

Watercress

Okay, so it’s not the most exciting of food items, but it has excellent qualities in recovery and damage limitations. It’s leaves contain a substantial amount of iron, vitamin C and calcium

Apples

As the saying goes, an apple a day, keeps the doctor away. This humble fruit contains quercetin, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant.

Blueberries

As well as being delicious, these berries come loaded with antioxidants, helping prevent free radical damage to your muscles from a workout. They’re also powerhouses for bone health.
